Coop Culture is a novel approach to multiculturalism, focused on enriching Canada’s dialogue on cultural diversity through cooperative story-telling and community engagement.

Background
Although many voices exist within the arena of Canadian cultural diversity, far too often the simplistic and sensational dominate our mainstream discourse. Recognizing the potential to contribute a more nuanced perspective through less conventional media forms, Sean Stiller and local community organizer Ajay Puri set out to found Coop Culture.

Our Approach
The mission and branding process centered on defining Coop Culture’s unique mandate and approach to engagement on key cultural issues. The reference to cooperatives is a nod to the collaborative outlook of the endeavour; bringing together many voices and seeking out common ground and contributions. The final mission statement – enriching Canada’s dialogue on cultural diversity through cooperative story-telling and community engagement – and an “infinity” C brand mark are intended to enforce the notion of ongoing, reciprocal discussion. As the main engagement point for the brand, an online presence was also developed to pique interest among a variety of audiences and build the collective at a grass-roots level.
